The Komati Basin Water Authority (KOBWA) officially handed over two blocks of toilets and a septic tank to Schoemansdal Clinic in the Republic of South Africa. The project was initiated at the early phase of COVID-19 in partnership with WaterAid Eswatini and it cost about R1,200,000.

Through the institution's CSR program, KOBWA has ensured support to her surrounding communities in the areas of water supply and sanitation. According to the Sustainable Development Goal 6, countries of the world committed to ensuring that they provide adequate water and sanitation to their nationals by the year 2030. Thus, the construction of the ablution facilities which is around improved sanitation.

KOBWA CEO, Mr. Trevor Shongwe in his speech noted that the clinic was servicing about 3,000 patients a month who would benefit from the new structures. 'I have been advised that the Clinic is servicing a population estimated at +/- 100 patients per day (3,000 per month) within its catchment area. Hence, it is an honour for us to lend a hand in the upliftment of the dignity of the people as they receive treatment in this facility' he said.

Municipality Representative, Councillor Ward 27 Mr. Mhlongo appreciated KOBWA for the work done, 'we are truly grateful to KOBWA for constructing the two blocks of toilets that represent a standard approved by the Ministry of Health', he said. He further urged the clinic and community members to take care of the toilets and ensure that it stays clean. ''As a municipality we will ensure that water is always available ensuring that the toilets are always working and kept clean' he added. Additionally, the clinic committee and staff presented a certificate of appreciation to KOBWA for the commendable gesture following that for a long time they had old toilets that were in a debilitated state.
