Recreation / Eco Tourism

Tourism is one of the spin-offs of the development of the Maguga Dam. There is an increase in recreational activities which include; angling, boat-rides, restaurant, an information centre, picnics, braais and music concerts in both dams. The construction of the Dam presented an opportunity for locals to engage in curios and crafts business. There are stalls at the View Point Centre and tourists can arrange to visit the historical Nsangwini Bushmen Rock Paintings.

  • The Maguga Lodge: The lodge is a private sector initiative, has been developed at Maguga Dam and provide accommodation and conference facilities.
  • The Day Visitors’ Centre: There is a day visitors’ centre equipped with ablution facilities and braai area. This area also serves as a launching area for boats and recreation on the Maguga Dam
