Administration

The Administration Department provides strategic leadership, governance, assurance, risk oversight, quality management, and corporate communication services across KOBWA. The Department plays a pivotal role in supporting the organisation's mandate by promoting good governance, accountability, transparency, operational excellence, and effective stakeholder engagement.

The Department ensures that organisational policies, systems, and processes are aligned with KOBWA's strategic objectives while maintaining compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and governance frameworks. It also provides independent assurance, facilitates risk-informed decision-making, and manages communication with both internal and external stakeholders.

The Administration Department consists of four units: Internal Audit Unit, Risk and Quality Unit, Communications Unit, and the Office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Internal Audit

The Internal Audit Unit provides independent and objective assurance services aimed at improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes. The Unit evaluates organisational operations and provides recommendations to enhance efficiency, accountability, and compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting risk-based internal audits across all departments and functions;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls and governance systems;
  • Assessing compliance with policies, procedures, laws, and regulations;
  • Reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of operational processes;
  • Identifying areas of financial, operational, and compliance risk;
  • Reporting audit findings and recommendations to Management and the Board;
  • Monitoring the implementation of corrective actions arising from audit findings; and
  • Promoting a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Risk and Quality

The Risk and Quality Unit is responsible for coordinating enterprise-wide risk management and quality assurance activities. The Unit assists management in identifying, assessing, monitoring, and mitigating risks that may affect the achievement of organisational objectives while ensuring that service delivery and operational processes meet established quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing risk management frameworks and policies;
  • Maintaining the organisational risk register and monitoring key risks;
  • Facilitating risk assessments and mitigation planning across departments;
  • Monitoring compliance with quality standards, policies, and procedures;
  • Supporting business continuity and resilience planning;
  • Coordinating performance improvement initiatives;
  • Monitoring corrective and preventive actions arising from audits and reviews; and
  • Promoting a culture of risk awareness, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.

Communications

The Communications Unit is responsible for managing KOBWA's internal and external communications and ensuring that stakeholders receive accurate, timely, and consistent information regarding the organisation's activities and achievements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies;
  • Managing media relations and public communications;
  • Coordinating corporate branding and maintaining the organisation's image and reputation;
  • Producing corporate publications, newsletters, reports, and promotional materials;
  • Managing digital communication platforms, including the website and social media channels;
  • Supporting public awareness and education programmes;
  • Coordinating public events, stakeholder forums, and outreach activities; and
  • Facilitating internal communication to enhance employee engagement and information sharing.

Through these units, the Administration Department ensures effective governance, strategic coordination, risk management, communication, and executive oversight, thereby supporting KOBWA in fulfilling its mandate and achieving its long-term objectives.
