The Komati Basin Water Authority (KOBWA) handed over two sponsorships to the Hhohho Regional Football Association (HRFA) to support local football teams in an upcoming tournament set to begin in September 2025. The sponsorships include funding for an Under-13 tournament as well as a knockout tournament for senior teams in the Piggs' Peak league. The event was attended by the Honourable Member of Parliament Jabulani Mabuza and HRFA officials led by Dr. Comfort Shongwe.

At an event held at the KOBWA Head Office in Maguga, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Trevor Shongwe, presented two sets of soccer kits, which will be awarded as prizes to the winners of the Under-13 tournament. He also presented two sets of training bibs, referee kits, prize medals, and a soccer ball, with a total value of approximately E25,000. Additionally, KOBWA is sponsoring a senior teams' knockout tournament for the Pigg's Peak area, which will run from September 2025 to May 2026, amounting to E50,000.

Mr. Shongwe stated, "this is part of our goal to maximize impact and promote inclusive community development. KOBWA is delighted to be part of this initiative, which not only promotes physical activity and health but also instills discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills in our youth-traits that are essential for the future of our communities." The CEO further stated that the soccer games would ensure that it keeps the youth away from crime and drug abuse.
The Chairperson of the Hhohho Regional Football Association, Dr. Comfort Shongwe, expressed appreciation for KOBWA's support, stating, "football is no longer just a social activity; it's a valuable investment. These tournaments help players hone and nurture their skills." He encouraged parents to allow their children to attend the soccer games, as it will help sharpen their talents and prepare them for higher leagues.

Honourable Member of Parliament Jabulani Mabuza also thanked KOBWA for the sponsorship, which extends to his area of operation. "We are very grateful for this support, and we are pleased to learn that the same assistance will also be extended to Driekoppies, South Africa." He emphasized that such support enables young individuals to identify their talents early in life, allowing them to nurture those talents for future benefits.
This tournament will benefit youth from the areas of Ekuvinjelweni, Kwakheni, Nginamadvolo, Ndlembeni, Nsangwini, as well as in Pigg's Peak. The games will be played at KaLaZwane and in various identified sports facilities in Pigg's Peak.
